Follow & LikeIs your dog keeping you from a good night’s sleep? If yes, then following suggestions may help your dog sleep through the night. You can experiment with these nine suggestions in order to find the ones that work best for your dog.
1.Give your exercise
You can give your dog lots of exercise a few hours before the bedtime. A dog park trip or a long walk is enough to take the edge off.
2.Use the dog’s crate
If your dog has sleeping disorder, you can crate or confine him. Because, being limited to a crate or confined space with a soft comfortable bed, often is adequate to help your pooch chill out for the night.
You should train your dog with some sleeping words like “Bedtime”. With a smile say “Bedtime!” and toss a toy or treat where you want your dog to go. You should praise your dog once he is in his crate or confined area and then leave them alone.
3.Give water
You should leave some water for your pooch in night, but they do not need a full bowl. You can fill their water bowl with the ice cubes. Because, it gives your dog enough water to stay hydrated, without filling his bladder.
4.Get your dog on a schedule
You should get your dog on a scheduled bedtime in order to help him sleep through the night.
5.Feed your dog properly
An empty stomach can keep your dog awake for whole night. Feeding your dog too early or not enough can be the cause of sleeping disorder of your dog.
6. Leave a Radio On
Some dogs can’t cope with too much silence because it raises their anxiety. You can leave a radio at low volume, preferably on weather channel or a talk show, rather than music. The sound of voices may comfort your dog.
7.Proper lights
Some dogs and puppies prefer a night-light, as they find it comforting. Whereas, lighting may keep some dogs busy and awake. You should find the lighting requirement of your dog and make the suitable lighting as per the comfort of dog.
8.Proper room temperature
Too hot or too cold room environment may be the reason of sleeping disorder in your dog. Therefore, check room temperature and make it comfortable for your dog.
9.Clean the sleeping area
Fleas, itchy skin conditions and fleabites can keep your dog wake at night. Therefore, you should make sure that the sleeping area of your pet is clean and flea free. In addition to this, if your dog has itching skin condition, speak to your veterinarian about something to help your dog from this.
