Coat

The Irish Setter may also be called a “red setter” in some countries. Its auburn/earth red color is somewhat different and marks its coat that has a very typical “skirt”, as well as its tail with longer hairs. This is the only accepted color for the breed, and it is not common to have spots on its coat (not even white ones, which can appear in one or another specimen, especially in the chest region).

Pet Profile

Taking Care of a Setter Irlandês

The Irish Setter needs frequent brushing of its coat. Trimming the hairs between your toes can also be a necessity, as they can become smelly and invite fungus. Their ears should be cleaned weekly and inspected frequently, as they can easily attract parasites, as well as being very prone to ear infections. Seek the help of a veterinarian whenever you notice a strong odor or wax buildup in your pet's ear. Setters need attention and it is not recommended that they live outside. They need a lot of activity. They love swimming, running and chasing objects, as well as enjoying doing things with their family.
