5 Tricks To Make Cat Bath Easier

cat_bathing

Generally, cats do not like to get wet, and giving bath to your feline friend can be a tough task. With built-in grooming tools like tongue and teeth, your fastidious friend does a wonderful job of cleaning themselves.  But, if she is dirty or gets into something smelly or sticky, you may need to give your pet a bath. In this article, I will suggest you some easy but effective tricks that will make the cat bath an easier task for you.

1.Perfect timing

If your feline friend is less enthusiastic about the bath time, you should tire her out beforehand. You can engage her in a nice, long play session so as to expend the energy she’d use to fight with you in the sink or tub.

2.Collect all necessary items beforehand

You should collect all the useful items before go into a cat bath. Here are some useful things that you’ll need:

  • Cat shampoo– Cats have delicate skin, and harsh shampoos can cause dryness, flaking and itching. Therefore, use only those shampoos that are specifically made for your cat. Some good shampoos for your cat are:

♦  Beaphar cat shampoo with macadamia oi

♦  Bayer Bolfo anti tick and flea shampoo for cats

  • Towels- Use only soft towels that are made for cat’s delicate skin. All4pets bath towel is a good option for your cat.
  • A pail of warm water (or a spray nozzle, if that wouldn’t scare your cat)
  • Conditioner or detangler– You’ll only really need these if your cat has long fur)
  • Gloves– These are for you, if you believe your feline friend might try to scratch
  • Rubber floor mat– Help you to keep you from slipping

3. Speak in soothing tones while bathing your cat

If you are nervous and worried, your cat will also feel that anxiety and respond in the same manner. In spite of this, you should speak in calming tones when you are bathing your cat. At the same time, you should remain authoritative and let your feline friend know who is in charge.

4.Dry your cat’s fur

Once your feline friend is through with the bath, you should let your cat air dry as much as possible. You should keep the speed blower to the lowest and lowest heat setting. You can skip the blow dryer if you have already had a particularly harrowing experience with the bath. The dryer should be used if your cat is not afraid of the noise from the blow dryer or your cat has particularly long fur.

5.Rewards is also important

Getting through a bath with a hydrophobic feline friend is not an easy task. A good reward can make your task easy. You should also spend some extra time cuddling with your cat when you are done. Try to give your cat 10 extra minutes of playtime or provide her with a delicious food treat.
