Follow & LikeLike humans, dogs need a warm shelter in the cold weather and a cool shelter to beat the heat of warm weather. By insulating your dog’s house, you can easily block out cold and heat. A well-insulated doghouse is essential for any canine that mostly spend his time outside. Before bringing a canine companion to your home, you should not only properly insulate the dog house but also make your house and garden dog proof.
Before starting insulation work, gather the following materials for this.
Now, follow below mentioned steps:
1.Finding Your Dog House
First of all, find a house for your dog which is big enough to be modified. By adding insulation material inside the house, you can make the interior considerably smaller. It is much easier to insulate the house of your dog that is not furnished.
2.Choosing Insulation
The next step is to choose the perfect insulation material. You should choose those materials which are easy to handle and install. Most of the people find that working with rolled insulation is much easier because this can be easily trimmed with a pair of scissors. However, there are plenty of other insulation types which you can choose depending on your preferences.
While choosing the insulation, you should consider the climate and the weather conditions in your area. Depending on your weather condition, you should choose the right type of insulation so that it effectively keeps your canine companion house warm.
3.Measuring
After that, carefully measure the dimensions of the floor of your dog house. It is very important to insulate the floor because from here most of the heat will escape. It is easier to insulate the floor if it is possible to remove it. If the floor can be removed, you can easily lift it out to install the insulation.
4.Cutting Flooring
You should carefully mark the measurements of floor onto the plywood and cut it out if you can’t remove the flooring in the house. You have to make sure that the plywood will fit in place when this insulation is fitted.
5.Cutting Insulation
You can either use a pair of scissors or a craft knife to cut the insulation to size. Ensure that the insulation is a snug fit around the floor of house and then nail it down to secure it to the house floor. After this, repeat the process to measure and cut the insulation needed for the sides of the house walls and the top and make sure that everything is as closely fitting as possible.
6.Sealing Gaps
You can seal the gaps using caulking. Try to use enough caulk to seal the gaps between the walls, ceiling and floor. You should make sure that the caulking is completely dry before you let your dog back into space. In addition to this, the caulk should not smell too badly.
7.Finishing Touches
After that look for any rough edges and if there are any rough edges, you need to use sandpaper to take the edge off them. It will make the house safer and more comfortable for your dog.
