Mistakes To Be Avoided When Ensuring Cat Nutrition

Mistakes To Be Avoided When Ensuring Cat Nutrition

Oct 29

Every cat owner loves to take care of their feline companions and ensure that they enjoy best health and one of the crucial factors that can ensure the same is the food that is given to them.

Consult your trusted vet- You may love your pet too much, but when it comes to feeding them, it is wise to consult your veterinarian. Many times, out of love for their lovely companions, pet owners feed their cats more than what is good for them. Over feeding is never good for them. They may just become obese eating too much and little exercising. The cats may also suffer from problems like diabetes and arthritis.

Vegetarian Cats- Cats, naturally are carnivores and forcibly turning them into a vegetarian may be a foolhardy idea. Meat is essential for your feline companions to enjoy excellent health and no nutritional issues. Since meat consists of amino acid, taurine, one of the prominent nutrients required by the cats, it is important that they are fed with meat. In the absence of this nutrient, they may suffer from heart ailments or blindness. You can also feed them on artificially synthesized food items that are available in attractive packaging by many top branded pet food companies.

Sufficient Water- Water is not only important for the human beings, but also for their feline friends. There is a myth about water needs of the cat. Many people believe that cats who are being fed on water based food do not require additional water. In fact, the cats must be encouraged to drink water which must be pure and fresh.

What to feed your cat?- Cats do not get exceptionally thirsty and as such many pet owners just provide them with dry food and this may result in spoiling the balance of water in the body. They may suffer from urinary tract infection if their water need is not fulfilled in the food that is given to them. As it is, cats are known to pass concentrated urine, and if they are not given sufficient water, the cats may suffer from a lot of urine tract problems.

No need to give garlic to the cat- Garlic offers any nutrition as such, hence there is no need to feed the cat with this food product.
