The Border Terrier is very pain tolerant. If a breed dog becomes ill, the only sign may be a change in behavior, isolating itself or being extremely quiet. Intelligence

In the Canine Intelligence ranking prepared by Stanley Coren in his book called “The Intelligence of Dogs”, the Border Terrier is among the 30 most intelligent breeds in the world. Although he demonstrates a preliminary understanding of new simple tasks after 15 repetitions, on average they will need 15 to 20 repetitions before they will more readily comply. Once he learns and acquires the new habit, the Border usually retains commands with some ease. In addition, they usually respond on the first command in 70% of cases, or even better than that, depending on the amount of training.

Temperament

Loyal, friendly and audacious: these are the main characteristics of a Border Terrier. Because they were bred to run peacefully with fox hounds, they did not develop an aggressive temperament towards other dogs, unlike Terriers who hunted mainly on their own. Even if he doesn't demand constant attention, the Border always wants to be with the family. Therefore, it is not recommended that a dog of the breed stay alone for a long time.

The life expectancy of a Border Terrier is between 12 and 15 years.
