Ermine rabbits are not susceptible to any specific disease, but they can get sick like any other rabbit, so it is essential that the owner is aware of any physical and/or behavioral changes and takes him to a veterinary doctor specializing in unconventional pets (wild and exotic) whenever you notice something different. It is extremely important that the person in charge guarantees all the necessary prerequisites for your rabbit to have a good quality of life and one of them is to carry out periodic follow-up with the specialist veterinarian at least once a year. .

Curiosities

Due to their size, they are not recommended for families with very young children, as they can easily drop and accidentally injure them. They are great pets for those who live in an apartment or place with limited space. They can be confused with the Dutch Dwarf breed (Netherland Dwarf) because they are small and compact and have relatively short ears, but they are a little larger (they are not considered dwarf rabbits) and the Dutch Dwarf's head tends to be proportionately larger and more rounded. Females give birth to between four and six young (laparous). Rabbit breeding is legal in Brazil, and it is possible to find breeders in different regions of the country.

Intelligence

They are quite smart, being easier to train when compared to the larger breeds. It is important to keep in mind that training a rabbit is not the same thing as training a dog, but it is totally possible, it just takes patience, persistence and time.

They are docile and friendly, great as pets.

Lifetime

The average life expectancy is six to eight years, but they can live longer. Smaller breeds tend to live shorter than larger ones.
