Health

The fathers and mothers of this pet will probably not have many problems regarding the animal's health. Only three diseases are listed as possible concerns: renal dysplasia, Addison's disease (also known as hypoadrenocorticism) and enteropathy.

Curiosities

Although there is no proof, everything suggests that the Wheaten shares a common ancestor with the Kerry Blue Terrier and the Irish Terrier.

Intelligence

In some situations, dogs of this breed can be quite stubborn. So, it is better to bet on getting him used to training sessions from an early age, which should always have a gentle and positive approach so as not to displease the dog. Making the teachings a joke can be the key to success to teach you what to do and keep you motivated.

Temperament

Loving and calm, the Wheaten usually gets along well with children, other pets and even strangers. He loves being with his family, is always excited for a little fun and will love it if you invite him for a cuddle session on the couch after playing. Just don't leave the pet alone for a long time, because the furry one doesn't deal well with loneliness and can start having destructive behaviors to show its dissatisfaction.

The friendly puppy lives, on average, between 12 and 15 years.
