Health

The furry generally enjoys good health, however, orthopedic problems are not uncommon, as the dog has a large body and small legs. Keep a close eye on its development and ask a veterinarian for help to see if there is any cause for concern. Elbow dysplasia and hypothyroidism also need to be prevented.

Curiosities

Queen Victoria, who frequented Scotland, was one of the people responsible for the breed's popularity. There were even those who said that it would be a shame for the queen to be seen in the park without the company of her Skye Terrier. The dog's fame increased when the painter Sir. Edwin Landseer featured it in his works.

Intelligence

The dog has its own wills, but, once convinced that its teachings are worth following, it shows an immense capacity for accomplishment, as it has a lot of intelligence. Routine training and snacks in the form of rewards are great choices to keep you happy and motivated.

Temperament

The Skye Terrier is elegant, faithful, courageous and behaves well with almost all humans, although it can be a little more shy with strangers and will bark at them until it gains confidence. Brave, the little one is used to facing any other pet - regardless of size - so try to socialize from an early age if you want to see him share life with another puppy or kitten.

The furry dog lives, on average, between 12 and 14 years.
